TOWN OF HENNESSEY

BOARD OF TRUSTEES     SPECIAL MEETING

MAY 30, 2023

The Board of Trustees of the Town of Hennessey met in special session at 6:00 p.m. on May 30, 2023. The meeting was held in the Council Room of the Town Hall Complex located at 123 S. Main, Hennessey, Kingfisher County, Oklahoma.

Mayor Cliff Vogt called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Trustees Randy Bohnstedt, David Jones, Harold Shaw, and Bert Gritz answered roll call. Others at the council table were Kelley Vaverka, Town Clerk and Interim Town Administrator David Treanor. Also attending the meeting was Barb Walter, Jennifer Firgard, Aaron Pitts, Angie Bruner, Kyle Watkins, Blaze Shimanek, Tammy Hunt, and Denise Meloy. 

DISCUSSION WITH POSSIBLE ACTION TO APPROVE AND PAY WORTH HYDROCHEM PAYMENT FROM 09/2022 THAT WAS MISSED.

Motion by Vogt, seconded by Bohnstedt to pay Worth Hydrochem $28,262.50 for the September 2022 payment that was missed.  Motion carried 5 YES.

DISCUSSION WITH POSSIBLE ACTION TO APPROVE THE CONTRACT FROM MARSAU ENTERPRISES FOR $217,737.00 ON THE REAP WATERLINE PROJECT GRANT #KF23-2 AND AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO SIGN THE CONTRACT.

            Motion by Gritz, seconded by Shaw to approve the contract from Marsau Enterprises in the amount of $217,737.00 for the REAP Waterline Project Grant #KF23-2. Motion carried 5 YES

DISCUSSION WITH POSSIBLE ACTION TO APPROVE LOCAL FUNDS NEEDED TO ADD A SEGMENT OF DRAINAGE ALONG MITCHELL BACK INTO THE CDBG GRANT #18523-21.

Motion by Vogt, seconded by Gritz to approve local funds (other capitol outlay) in the amount of $141,725.00 to add a segment of drainage along Mitchell Road back into the CDBG Grant #18523-21. Motion carried 5 YES

DISCUSSION WITH POSSIBLE ACTION TO APPROVE TO PURCHASE AND EQUIP A CHEVY TAHOE 1500 4WD 9C1 PURSUIT MODEL FOR THE POLICE DEPT.

Motion by Vogt, seconded by Gritz to approve the purchase and equip a Chevy Tahoe 1500 4WD 9C1 pursuit model for the police dept in the amount of $____________ Motion carried 5 YES

DISCUSSION WITH POSSIBLE ACTION TO APPROVE THE 23-24 BUDGET AS PRESENTED BY CRAWFORD AND ASSOCIATES.

Changes were discussed. Approval will come when the final budget is presented.

Vogt recommended that the next board meeting be moved to June 15 with the hearing to approve the budget being at 5:30 p.m.

DISCUSSION WITH POSSIBLE ACTION TO APPROVE CLAIMS FROM LAST MONTH THAT WERE UNAVAILABLE AT THE TIME OF THE MEETING DUE TO COMPUTER PROBLEMS.

Motion by Vogt, seconded by Gritz to approve the claims from last month. Motion carried 5 YES

DISCUSSION WITH POSSIBLE ACTION TO APPROVE THE BUILDING PERMIT FOR THE HENNESSEY PUBLIC SCHOOL TO ADD ON TO THE BUS BARN ON HWY 51 IN FLOOD PLAIN.

Motion by Gritz, seconded by Bohnstedt to approve the building permit for the Hennessey Public School to add on to the bus barn on Hwy 51.

EXECUTIVE SESSION PURSUANT TO O.S. SECTION 307(B)(1) TO DISCUSS HIRING BLAZE SHIMANEK IN PARKS/CEMETARY TO REPLACE DYLAN ATHERTON.

Motion by Gritz, seconded by Shaw to convene into executive session. Motion carried 5YES

The board adjourned into executive session at 7:22 p.m.

Motion by Vogt, seconded by Gritz to reconvene into special session at 7:37 p.m. Motion carried 5 YES

DISCUSSION WITH POSSIBLE ACTION TO HIRE BLAZE SHIMANEK IN PARKS/CEMETERY

Motion by Shaw, seconded by Vogt to hire Blaze Shimanek in the parks/cemetery department. Motion carried 5 YES
